SL_genCore is an A/V installation generated by an algorithm and partly directed by the artist. It shows an ever-growing, tentacular path slowly enveloping a virtual space. A genetic algorithm dictates the direction, length and position of the branches. Real-time data of solar winds (data provided by SWPC) influence the algorithm's genetic makeup.

The processes generating the path mirror those of the sunken lanes — routes eroded deep into the bedrock by centuries of human, vehicular and animal movements. Similarly, the movements of SL_genCore (recorded graphically as branches) accumulate and over time a complex structure emerges. The piece is controlled using a series of panels, each highlighting a different structural layer.
